The chair represents the interdisciplinary science of business informatics. On the one hand we understand business informatics as an interface between economics and computer science and on the other hand as a link between the individual subdisciplines of business administration (see figure).

In particular, the Chair focuses on the importance of information and communication systems for the individual disciplines of economics and social sciences. The chair's field of activity differs from that of a classical business administration chair in that it examines and treats the entire spectrum of business administration from an informatics perspective. The chair is engaged in teaching, application-oriented research and contract research. The goals of the chair can be summarized as follows:

  • Transfer of computer science methods to economic science problems
  • Development of operational and flexible solutions for economic problems
  • Transfer of current theoretical knowledge and experience into teaching and practice
